Etymology

The name ‘Biosis Design’ was inspired by the term ‘Symbiosis’ that refers to a close and often long-term interaction or relationship between two different species in proximity to each other. These interactions can be beneficial, harmful, or neutral to either or both species involved. While this definition encompasses the full breadth of these relationships (Mutualism, Commensalism, and Parasitism), for the purpose of design, we view symbiosis as mutually beneficial for all involved. The ‘-biosis’ suffix denotes ‘mode of life’, which embodies our vision of a way of life where we collaborate harmoniously with nature and one another to rejuvenate and revitalize our world on a local scale, which can lead to global impact.

Biosis Design imagines a world where we co-create prolific landscapes that not only nurture and sustain human beings but also, plants, animals, and communities. Our mission addresses pressing global challenges, including climate change, monocultural food production, cultural division, and the environmental toxicity resultant from development. We achieve this at a local scale through thoughtful collaboration, creative solutions, and educational initiatives with our clients.
